Deutsch DT 2-way plug pigtail kit — properly built and ready to drop straight into your harness.

This is a 2-way DT plug (DT06-2S-C015, socket contact) pre-terminated with 300mm tails of UK-made AMC thin-wall automotive cable — crimped with correct tooling, DC4 sealed, wedge-locked and tested. It mates directly to any standard DT 2-way receptacle on a vehicle, machine or harness.

Built in the North East of England. Not a generic import. Not a bag of bits.

Who it’s for

  • Van converters and campervan builders adding detachable joints to auxiliary circuits
  • Auto electricians repairing or extending OEM harnesses without re-pinning the whole loom
  • Plant and agricultural technicians who need a reliable field repair — now
  • 4×4 and overland builders fitting accessories properly, once

What makes this Deutsch DT 2-way plug pigtail kit different

  • Correct tooling used — no crushed pins, no solder bridges, no pliers
  • C015 housing matched to E-seals for genuine IP rating on thin-wall cable
  • DC4 dielectric compound applied to every cavity — arrives greasy on purpose
  • Everything you need in the box: plug, tails, splice hardware, heat shrink, instructions, BOM

What’s in the box

Connector TE Connectivity Deutsch DT06-2S-C015 — 2-way plug, socket contacts, E-seal, wedge-lock
Cable 2 × 300mm AMC thin-wall automotive cable, 2.0mm² (approx. 14 AWG), grey, ISO 6722-1:2011 Class B, 105°C
Splice hardware Solder-butt crimp terminals and adhesive-lined heat shrink for inline splicing
Identification Heat shrink cavity ID markers — Deutsch pin numbers, not random colours
Documentation Printed assembly instructions + Bill of Materials listing every component by part number
Sealing DC4 dielectric compound applied to all cavities and rear seals during assembly
Part number 430009-000

Electrical ratings

Contact rating Up to 13A continuous per contact (DT series, size-16, subject to ambient temperature and duty cycle)
System voltage 12V and 24V DC nominal; maximum ~60V DC
Cable size 2.0mm² (approx. 14 AWG) — upper end of size-16 contact range, providing thermal and volt-drop margin
Temperature rating 105°C (ISO 6722-1:2011 Class B) — suitable for under-bonnet and chassis-exposed locations
Tail length 300mm — enough to route, splice and terminate without a bulky loop

Why the C015 housing matters

The DT06 series comes in two seal profiles. The standard arrangement is designed for older, thicker cable insulation. Modern thin-wall automotive cable has a smaller OD — use the wrong seal and it won’t grip the insulation, the connector leaks, and the claimed IP rating is worthless.

The C015 suffix designates E-seal compatibility. Dimensioned for thin-wall cable, so when correctly assembled and mated you get a real, durable IP-rated seal — not just a housing that looks the part.

DC4 — why the connector arrives greasy

Every cavity is filled with a measured application of DC4 dielectric compound during assembly. Do not wipe it off.

In low-current circuits in harsh environments, fretting corrosion is a genuine failure mode — tiny vibration-induced movements gradually destroy the oxide-free metal surface and increase contact resistance, particularly where condensation and road salt are present. DC4 is chemically inert, hydrophobic and electrically non-conductive. It occupies the gaps around the contacts and seals, displacing the moisture and oxygen that would otherwise cause trouble.

Simply mate the plug fully until the latch clicks. Any excess DC4 will displace harmlessly.

Assembly process

All contacts are crimped using genuine Deutsch-pattern tooling. We do not solder, crush with pliers or use uncalibrated copy tools — those methods create stress risers in the strands and inconsistent contact resistance. After crimping, contacts are inserted to positive lock, wedge-locks are fitted, and every assembly receives a tug-test and visual check before packaging.

Where this kit fits — and where it doesn’t

Ideal for:

  • Adding a detachable joint to a 2-core circuit — lights, pumps, fans, beacons, small winch controls, 4×4 accessories
  • Repairing a damaged factory DT 2-way connector with an OEM-style outcome — not Scotch-locks
  • Breaking into an auxiliary harness in a way that’s obvious and maintainable for the next person

Not suitable for:

  • Vehicle-specific OEM replacement — check your connector before you cut
  • Starter motors, main battery feeds or high-energy circuits — stay within 13A per contact
  • Production harness work where correct tooling should always be used

Installation notes

The 300mm tails give you enough length to splice into an existing loom, route to a junction box or land on a terminal strip. Stagger the splice joints along the harness rather than landing them all at the same point — keeps the loom diameter consistent and makes routing in tight runs much easier.

The connector and rear seals will look greasy when you unpack — this is correct. Do not wipe the DC4 off. Mate the plug fully until the latch clicks.

Not sure if this is the right kit? Ask before you cut.

We’ve designed and fault-found wiring on cars, vans, trucks, buses, plant and off-highway kit. If you’re not certain this connector is the right match for your application — way count, keying, pin size, current — drop us a message or call the landline. We’d rather talk it through first than see a rushed repair on someone’s machine.

We also build custom harness sections and connector kits to order. Different way counts, cable sizes, lengths, labelling and protection can usually be accommodated. Get in touch.

DTM series and further DT way-count kits coming soon.

These assemblies are intended for installation by competent persons with working knowledge of 12/24V vehicle and machinery electrical systems. Always isolate the supply and confirm circuits are dead before cutting. Test for continuity, insulation resistance and correct polarity before re-energising. Designed for low-voltage (≤60V DC) control and auxiliary circuits on automotive, plant, marine and similar equipment. Not suitable for mains-voltage wiring, high-energy battery links, starter-motor main feeds or safety-critical circuits requiring specific OEM approval.
