Charging products do more than simply put energy back into a battery. In practical campervan, leisure and off-grid systems, the charging side of the installation determines how well the battery is treated, how quickly it recovers, and whether the wider system behaves sensibly or just muddles through on luck.

Different charging products exist because different charging jobs are not the same. Charging from shore power is not the same as charging from a vehicle alternator, and a simple relay-based split-charge setup is not the same as a properly controlled DC-DC charger. The right choice depends on where the energy is coming from, what battery chemistry is being charged, and how much control the system actually needs.
